so I just installed Quicktime and tried to run a HD video which didn't really work out... the computer just froze... so I just restarted and now everytime I restart the computer freezes in about 5 minutes after startup of windows... the mouse just stops moving and everything stops responding.

I set everything back to default settings on the mobo and still nogo. I also uninstalled quicktime, which didn't really solve anything :(

anyone have ANY idea wth can be causing this?

specs are

eVGA 680i SE SLI 775 TR running P28 BIOS
E4400 @ 3.5Ghz (stock right now, while trying to figure out what is going on)
Kingston 1GB HyperX Ram
TT Bigwater 735
Xp w/SP2

EDIT: now the mouse moves but no response from anything else... can't even make the the little squares with the mouse (to select things) no response from keyboard either, but th caps lock light comes on and stuff.....

also the sand clock thing shows down by the taskbar (if I bring the moue down there)

it starts up just fine in safe mode too... also I disabled everything from startup via msconfig

running spybot and all those goodies but nothing...

crazy stuff... I used the rollback function (whatever its called that lets you go back to a certain day)

worked like a charm! i never knew that thing was effective!
