What's going on with Intel CPUs?

So I've been reading up on coffee lake, Cannon lake, ice lake, etc and I'm sort of confused. Coffee lake and Cannon lake lineups are supposed to be Y, U, and H chips. Does this mean they're mobile exclusive? I'm just curious as to what Intel's desktop market is going to look like, what with the stump of having to move off of silicon to continue making improvements. It certainly seems like they're caught between a rock and a hard place.

I don't recall they'll be low power versions only, but Intel have said mobile applications will be more of a priority going forwards. That is, future architectures will aim more for improving performance per watt. It was speculated this may result in a reduction in performance for desktops.
