Hey guys, what's the stock voltage for a 3.0C. I just installed a new 30-cap in a new Max 3 and the BIOS reads 1.475 default, which dives to about 1.400 at full load in speedfan. Is this normal?! Are there ways to make the drop less? I am seeing 37 idle and 42 load by the way.

Even though your vcore doesn't appear to match S spec, all the recent 30 cap CPUs have had lower default vcore. My SL6WU shows 1.488v at default, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the numbers you're getting. Seems one of Intel's priorities lately has been core power management as listed vcore (S spec) keeps dropping on 130nm procs.

Most peep with the SL6WK 30 caps Q fab came with 1.47v(something around there) default. Even though on the box it show 1.55v.

Q fab mean your batch/fpo start with a Q, for examle yours is something like Q401, right?

Don't even woooor-ry and keep us updated with your result.

Here the tread about it:

WOW! you are right it's a Q401, I'm going to remount my sp-94 more carefully and go to it tomorrow! Thanks for the links! (Booting at 250fsb on stock volts?! I would surely soil myself)

decided to hold off on remounting, it is as good as it's going to get without a lapping probably. Bumped mem up to 2.8, am running 220fsb 1:1 at stock voltage (1.475). Temps went up 1-2C at load. I'm excited :D I'll get more serious into it tomorrow and make a proper post maybe.
