Im really tempted to sell my Mobo, CPU, Video card (eVGA7800GT not the 7950 in sig) and my 2 Maxtor drives in my sig to get the new eVGA 680i MB and the E6600, but the 6600 is $310 at teh egg, and i would really like it to fall below that, it got down to 307 around Thanksgiving, but thats the lowest it has gone.

So when can we expect a $20 dip at least??

You didn't buy it to save $7.....wtf?

That's like less than 3% difference in price! :bang head AND less than 1% of the cost of your system!

Take the plunge dude, the water is WARM!

I feel your pain brother, i almost slipped and bought a e6400, but i'm saving till i can afford e6600 (or until it drops below 275$)

i've had bad experiences with oem cpus

the p4 660 in the sig was oem, a bargain, like 275$ under retail, but the company sent it in a god damn ENVELOPE, all wrapped up in printer paper, with nothing else. I was scared as hell it was gunna be ****ed up, but for whatever reason, it worked.

Still, not something i would want to repeat.

IIRC, there's supposed to be a new C2D chip debuted in January or February which will push the rest of the line down a rung on the price ladder. The 6600 will go down to $203, I believe.

no doubt chips will drop 100 bucks right after they come out... trust me man.. there's not a dang thing that will come out and drop this thing 100 bucks... that's not how the market works.. unless they come out with some magic chips running at 10Ghz and everyone wants one.

@warlock:

The thread starter asked when the prices might go down. Traditionally they have as intel introduced newer processors. In this case, they will be the 1333mhz models. Those aren't scheduled for release until Q2, so I was overly optimistic in regard to timing.

@anyone looking for a deal at Amazon:

If you apply for the Amazon Visa Card when you purchase the chip, you get an additional $30 off the cost, for a total of over forty-five bucks. That'll take some of the sting out of the purchase!

Anyone have a price roadmap handy.. I wouldn't speculate on $100 price drops any time soon.
