I'm building my first computer and so far i have chosen:
an Iwill ka266-R mobo, 1gig axia tbird cpu, 256 ddr ram, sblive soundcard..Now i need some help with a video card..I'm not too big on gaming just get..but i do need a card that will deliver top of the line quality for movies. The card must also have a video out..i've heard very good things bout the radeon 64mb ddr card and the geforce pro, but will the cheaper cards do the same job?

So yah..please leave some input/help/suggestions/whatever..and thanks to all who do :)

One other question....I dont need to purchase a card just yet..Is there anyhting new coming out that i should wait for? kyro 2?? will prices of other vid cards be going down anytime soon??

The Kyro 2 is the best of both worlds (Price/Performance), as is the GF2MX, but I saw reviews of the K2 kicking the GF2Mxs ***. But if price is no issue for you wait a couple weeks till the Geforce3 comes out. But if you are not looking to spend 600 USD, then get the GF2U, because the prices will drop BIG TIME on that card wen the GF3 comes out, and it is also a very fast card (GF2U).

RADEON delivers TOP QUAILTY FILMS/GRAPHICS. but it is has 2 pipelines.

GF2 delivers TOP PERFOMANCE but it is not reccomended for ultra quiality.

Wait for GF3, RADEON 2 or buy 32MB but ,please, BOX Radeon. OEM is not too good ,fi you want quiality and find out:
VIA 4in1 Drivers at www.via.com
RADEON lastest drivers at ati.com
and something like RadeonTweaker at www.rage3d.com

I tried Radeon ,ASUS GF2MX and GTS.
My choise was RADEON.
Perhaps 5 dollars is not a price for additional 32 DDR ,yeah?

If your not into gameing and want the best quality for DVD playback then a readon is the best way to go. Do they make a ve 32ddr? or are all the ve's 32sdr?

If you want a geforce2 MX then I would sugest the leadtek geforce 2 mx dh pro. it has 2 vga outputs and a tv out plus it has 5 nanosecond ram vrs. the 6 nano second ram of most cards.

You would probably want the AIW Radeon. Lots of video options, inputs and outputs; plus the picture quality is superior to other cards out there. I don't own a DVD-Rom but am planning to buy one and have read that the Radeons are excellent for DVDs; especially when using PowerDVD instead of the ATI software.

And even though you aren't a big gamer, if you wanted to play a game that required heavy 3d usage your Radeon would be able to stand up to the challenge.

Yeah, I concur. Those All In Wonder cards were always real high on the multimedia features and ATI's DVD playback is superb (it's better than the software decoder on my GeForce2 MX). If the All In Wonder Radeon is outta your price range, I would look at the Radeon 32 MB DDR or SDR, whatever is closer to your price range. Maybe even a Radeon VE if you really need to save cash.

if your not buying the stuff yet, go geforce3, it will probably drop in price bigtime in about 2 months
