Which chip would you choose for this mini

Of the 3 cpu's to choose from which would you pick for this mini HTPC that will mostly be used for music/movies and occasional gaming to a widescreen. I know this mini can run 195 fsb solid. Take into consideration that heat could be an issue and I want to keep system as quiet as possible. I will be using the bundled Soltek copper heatsink

I am stuck on the decision as I will sell one of the 2 left over and the other will end up in my wifes system. So I am trying to figure which makes most sense for a mini, cause I am thinking how much power does it really need?

Last thing this system will run a Twinhan 1020A DVB Ground to air satellite card which is cpu hungry, I am assuming that 2ghz of power from either of these 2 chips is more than adequate as I was recommended to have 1.5 +, just wondering the smaller Duron cache will hurt performance.

1)Duron 1400 overclocks to 2.0ghz well but is Multi locked
2)XP2400 multi locked so only can oclock via fsb which will not get me much
3)XP1700 JIUHB 0309 DUT3C can run 2.3 multis are unlocked

Since its going to be MOSTLY used for music/movies, I would go with the duron, just because they run great and do not put off much heat. A 2ghz duron should be enough to power games as well. I would say go with the 1700+ if it were a DLT3C, because then you wouldnt have to use as much voltage, therefore having lower temps. As for the 2400+, I would maybe use this because it will give you the best performance, but with heat.

IMHO I would go for the duron. I have seen alot of the new duron's hit high #'s and for the price I think it would be a great buy for the setup you would be using it for.

2 votes for the Duron, one other question will the Duron play games such as BF or say Unreal 2 and 2003 well if I have it running say 2ghz

I wil be putting in a 8500LE 64 DDR at 290/290 into the system cause it is a quiet card, I have the option to put a 9500np in as well that softmods perfect but it has a Vantec Iceberg on it so it is noisier. I guess video card will determine how well the games will play that will be coming out.

Unfortunately this duron is locked, any other peeps out there with feedback lay it on me please, tommorrow I start assembling it and once the chip is in I will be leaving it for a while.....

What voltage does the 1700XP take at 2.3?

If I remember correct it is default of 1.6 and it needs1.7 thats on a Shuttle An35N. Power supply in the mini is a quality 200w and I would like to run a 9500np as well and if not then a 8500LE 64 DDR,

Cisco Kid, what is the week on the duron chip?
If it is really locked, then I'd go for chip #3 it will most likely give you the highest FSB while running 2.3GHz...

2 votes Duron 1 for the 1700XP, yeah the Duron is week 47, I already tried it in my wifes system, I can change multi but when checked it is locked at 10.5

up, for any more last minute feedback on chip selection, looks as though 1700 will take it, but the Duron sure is tempting as I am sure it will go to 2100.

Question will the Duron have enough oomppff to run the DVB satellite card , as far as running codes but also be able to write to the drive if I decide to record the broadcast? Anyone know, I am wondering if the XP larger cache will be a bit better
