Which dual PIII board?

After learning a bit more about the limited lifespan of the current AMD chips, I am considering a dual PIII system for my business box. I’ll probably use a pair of 700s, overclocked of course. It’s been a long time since I looked at Intel boards. I hate to pull a newbee, but does anyone want to point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Colin

I bought an Abit VP6 the day the were introduced, and it has been a great board so far. I acquired another a couple of days ago. All are running 700s at 1GHz and have been trouble free. They offer all of the overclocking features Abit is famous for, plus RAID and up to 2GB of ram. I participate in a couple of dual cpu forums, and the general consensus is that my results are typical- they are stable and fast.

I have used several different dual slot 1 boards (Tyan, SuperMicro, etc.) and they are okay for server type applications, but not the best for convenient overclocking. The VP6 is the only fc-pga dual I have experience with.

Keep in mind you will need NT or W2000 to run SMP (dual processors).

Thanks Tim. That's just what I wanted to hear. Despite their customer service, I am an Abit fan too. Also as far as I am concerned, NT and Win2K are the only decent OS that Microsoft sells.

Tim,

Are you running air or water for cooling?

Colin

PEP66s with the shrouds turned, and fans reversed. When the shrouds were turned I lost 2 degrees of cooling- reversing the fans got it back.
