I have ONLY 3 DVD-ROM option (I'm buying from Retail store, so if something goes wrong I can return it, unlike online I would have to ship it if goes wrong = $$$)

LG DRD-8160B 16X DVD IDE CD ROM
SONY DU1621 16X DVD IDE DRIVE ONLY
PIONEER 117 16X DVD IDE DRIVE ONLY (TRAY)

Can anyone please tell me from their experience from OWNING one of these drives if they are any good?

These are all the info I have so far about them and some questions:

All Drives can be made regionless.
Unlike other drives LG has software to reset the region count to 5 again after all the Region changes are used up.

The LG and Pioneer can READ DVD-R/RW media, which I need since I have a DVD-R Drive.
I can't find ANYTHING from Sony's website about their DU1621 Drive. They ONLY list their Burners.

LG supports UDMA 33, Pioneer UDMA 66, will that really make any difference?

I'm going to put the DVD-ROM Drive with my DVD-R Drive which is a UDMA 33 on a PROMISE ULTRA DMA100 ATA/BUS MASTER TX2 CONTROLLER CARD as a Slave with the DVD-R being the Master

Will being with a UDMA 33 (DVD-R) slow the DVD-ROM Drive if I get the Pioneer UDMA 66 on the same channel?

Doesn't the DVD-R drive play DVDs? It's kinda strange that it'd write them, but not read or play them.

Or do you just want a dedicated drive for playing DVDs?

Yep, I want the DVD-ROM so that the DVD-R is ONLY used for burning. Last thing I want is the motor to give out, plus I don't really have warranty on that thing (Got it from Ebay = zero warranties).
