Think about this one...

true 430 specs = http://www.antec-inc.com/p_true430.html click on specsheet link

400W specs = http://www.antec-inc.com/p_pp412x.html click on specsheet link

From the Antec True Power Page
----------
These power supplies feature dedicated output circuitry for each voltage so that each output delivers maximum power whenever you need it. To make sure these voltages stay accurate, TruePower also includes voltage feedback circuitry to improve system stability.

I thought: Cool!

But->It lists max +3.3, +5, +12 max wattage as 410. No listing for just 3.3 and 5. If you multiply the amp ratings (3.3=28,5=36,12=20) and add, you get more than the combined rating of 410. They can't all be 100% independent. The 400 watt has 4 more max amps on the +5v rail, but less on the +12v. I'm more worried about the +3.3v and +5v than I am about the +12v, my mobo and core draw alot of current, and I don't have alot of perephrials. On the other hand, the +/- 3% rating on +3.3,+5, and +12 rails sounds nice. Which is better?

Thanks,

-Dan

What setup will you be using this
on? (What Processor, Mobo, etc.)

Is it the one is your sig?
If so there is not much need
for the True Power, it just
goes down to if you have the
extra $.

So is the true 430 a better PSU or not?
I just returned my antec 403 since the 5V rail was at 4.88~4.96,
never went over 5.00 w/ my XP1700+ at 2.02vcore and 11x150fsb.
Will the true 430 give me better voltage?

It will be for my current machine, but I want it to last many, many upgrades, lots of voltage to everything (I plan to mod the heck out of my mobo), tons of fans, and, possibly, a water cooling system.

True, but why is the 400W rated 4 more amps on the +5v rail?

Because it delivers 2 amps less on the +12V. Those 4 amps had to come from somewhere.

I strongly suspect the pp403, pp412 and true430 are pretty much the same on the inside.

Hoot

yes

I have the True Power 480w PSU from Antec. Its great. My voltages are steady as a rock. The 5v ranges from 4.89 - 4.96 and never above or below, the 12v stays pretty much constant at 11.80, and the 3v stays constant at 3.5v.

XiveX,
Those voltages seem a little low, not
in the dangerous but a little low.

If you want EXACT regulation, nothin
comes closer than a PC Power & Cooling.
My 5v rail is exactly 5 volts, load or not,
same with the 12 and 3.3.

I can second that! Not only is power a consideration, but, even more importantly, is percentage of Regulation. PC Power & Cooling IS the best investment you will ever make, if you decide to spend $200 on a PSU that is. I have absolutely NO fluctuation in any of my lines, idle or LOAD. I have never seen this with any other PSU and have tried most of them.

Now to answer the original question, I would go for the True Power because it has a 3% regulation as opposed to 5% for the "old" version.

For those having low voltages with the Antec units, there are adjustable pots inside the cases .... not sure how the new True power units will be set up....
