I need to get a modem for my IBM Thinkpad 770 233Mhz laptop it has a thing on the side that your suppose to put one in but I want to know if there any thing special about the size of it or does it really matter. If you understand what I am trying to say please help thanks.

Are you refering to a PCMCIA slot? or an actual hole on the laptop body for an internal modem?

anything that fits into a type II PCMCIA slot should work a treat

save yourself from buying higher priced PCMCIA modem and get a USB version instead, get anything lowest in price since the speed difference among modems is hardly noticeable.
