I am buying a Nvidia GeForce4 Ti Series card for my new side-kick machine I just bought. It is really going to be for friends who don't feel like lugging their machine over on LAN party night, so it needs to play CS, CZ, and WC3 in a non-laggin mannor. I asked before which to get between the GeForce4 Ti 4200 and the ATi 8500, and I was swayed toward the 4200. I've always been an ATi guy myself, so I really didn't know much about the Ti series lineup of cards and since my last post I have done some research on them. I guess my question now is which Ti should I get for the best quality and preformance? 4200, 4400, or 4600? Are those the only ones they made? I assume the 4600 is prolly the best, but... I got this info from www.tomshardware.com
GeForce4 Ti 4600-8x NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 300 650 128-bit 4x2
GeForce4 Ti 4600 NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 300 650 128-bit 4x2
GeForce4 Ti 4400 NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 275 550 128-bit 4x2
GeForce4 Ti 4200-8x NVIDIA NV28 DX 8.1 250 514 128-bit 4x2
GeForce4 Ti 4200 128 NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 250 444 128-bit 4x2
GeForce4 Ti 4200 64 NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 250 514 128-bit 4x2
Now I want to make it clear that I do not want a 8X card for this thing, its an older Compaq Professional Workstation (Dual P3 1Ghz) and it has the old 4x slot. If im going to get an 8x card I'll just get a ATi 9500 Pro, but I really want to try out a Ti Series Nvidia and the 8x card isn't going to do me any good on the 4x bus anyway. I just included the 2 8x cards in the list because thats whats on the site and I wanted you to see what im seeing. This looks like the one to get to me:
GeForce4 Ti 4600 NVIDIA NV25 DX 8.1 300 650 128-bit 4x2
What brand of this card would give the best quality picture and preformance, while still giving a long life?
Sorry to be a pain, but I just want to get the right thing for the job.
Thanks for all your help!!
