I'm currently using a voodoo3 3000 ( lowly score of 1177 3dmark2000) and I've decided to up it to the GF2 mx. While the rest of my system needs replacing as well I'm putting that off until later this year. I plan to eventually buy a GF3, but not likely until mid-winter, to go along with my total system overhaul.

So which is the best of the MX's out there? I'd like a good software package as well, but not necessary.

Current system specs
k6-2 500 mhz
128 mb pc100 sdram (another 128 mb on the way though)
SB live x-gamer
voodoo3 3000 agp 16mb
soyo MB 5EMA+

I have the Leadtek (probably THE best for overclocking) geforce 2 MX DH Pro at 220/210 overclock and get really good 3dmarks (3423 with setup below, not bad!).

There's a single head monitor version of this card. A real steal at $110 for mid-range cards. For an extra $40 you can get the GTS PRO which really rocks.

I really want to stay $100 or less....mainly due to I WILL buy the GF3 later this year. I don't see the point in spending $150 on a card that I feel would be quite adequate for at least a year maybe more. Where as the GF3 may last much longer with the way developers produce games that typically only push a card if you play with all the goodies working. most developer will use the Mx cards as their base system specs on future developments. Having it will allow this system to last longer without killing the wallet.

And as stated I am building a new system this fall/winter. While the MX Pro IS a great card its not what I want. ;)

MX now GF3 later :D

my GF2mx32 leadtech so far has been a good card ive installed a large HSF cut down from another CPU to fit, i'm running 167 FSB so it does overclock well havnt benchmarked it so no stats there i hanvnt had one problem at all with it.

you have a lowely score of 1100 or something in 3d mark 2000 because your COMPUTER SUCKS
dont cry because its the truth. I mean i got the same voodoo 3 card running a OLD SLOT A T-BIRD aT 1000mhz with 128meg pc 100 and guess what i get 3500 marks. Try taking a look buying a cheap socket a mother board for 100 bucks and a duron 900 and then overclock it to 1100mhz and see what you get with your voodoo 3. That setup should only cost 200bucks
geesh

If your going to get an MX, know this..the gf2 mx has only two pixel pipelines, whereas the gf 256, ang the gts/pro/ultra all have four pixel pipelines...if you want good benchmark scores, than you will want to stay far from any MX card...they all blow...I'll bet with a little tweeking, a 256 can eat an MX for lunch.
Which is why I'll be getting either a gts ddr, ultra II ddr.
I learned my lesson with the TNT2 M64

I think Hercules is one of the higher quality MX cards. Lots of us MX people are switching over to the GF2 Ultra or GF3, maybe you can find a real nice deal on a used card? If mine wasn't going into a backup machine, I'd sell you mine. Good luck.

Okay, all that does is cut abck on the fillrate, and with the MX in his sytem, it'll give him 2500 3d marks. and the GF256? well, it onyl beats the MX in single textures. Multi-textures, the MX turns the GF256 into a snack for a road trip.

Like soemoen said, my brother ahs the smae setup, and gets the same score with teh same card

Pay 125 bucks, and grab a KT133a, and spend 55bucks getting a duron750 and a Fop32!!

you'll see those scores JUMP!

Ok ppl I know my system SUCKS that why im upgrading LATER. If I upgrade now I'll be spending vacation money...no way im doing that. AFTER vacation and paying for school I'm buy a abit kt7a and at LEAST the 800 mhz duron(rather have the 1Ghz axia? w/266 bus). Also going to get a plextor cdrw 12x10x32x and 256mb pc150 sdram( i like kingmax). Although when that time comes I may opt for a DDR based MB...wait and see on that.

Alll that is at least 3 months away if not more.Vacating in august.

So all i want for not a a better video card...if the MX's wont help that much with my current setup then fine I'll not bother with anythign but more ram for this system.

500mhz k6-2
