Which SMP combo?

I am going to upgrade my mobo and cpu at christmas and I will have £980 to spend on a new case,psu and the mobo and cpu I have already chosen my case and psu and I have £785 left so which SMP board and cpus should I goto. I need lots of memory bandwith as I do a lot of mapping and play alot of 3d games. £785 is about $1,100. So help me choose a kick *** system.

By Christmas time, the computer world will be totally different. Right now, it's tough to beat the Abit VP6 motherboard running dual P-IIIs. However, dual proc systems don't always make the best gaming rigs. You're stuck using Windows 2000 (or worse, Win NT) and not all the new popular 3D games are optimized for Win2k yet.
