Which XP?

I'm having tough decissions on choosing what XP to buy....I want to get XP 2000+ power but don't want that price...I was thinking of getting an XP 1800+ and O/Cing it to XP 2000+ speed....would that require a LOT of cooling or no extra cooling?

well rite now i have my 1700+ AGKGA running at 1800+ without problems, itll boot but not into windows at 1900+ because i need better NB cooling, ill make a wb for that later, or it could be my ram.... bu if you do get one make sure you get a good stepping

go to qbitpc.com and you can request stepping, and they have good prices!

but if you request stepping put like 2-3 choices.... i put 2 and got my 3rd,

i requested agoga or agnga and got agkga......


im currently watercooled... if that makes a difference, and ill see how high i can get when i get my svc goldengate,

Unlocking that 1800+ would let you hit a 12.5x multiplier (from 11.5x) pretty easily. You probably wouldn't even have to raise vcore at all. This way you get 2000+ speeds for a 1800+ price and you haven't even touched the FSB yet! Gotta love AMD for making their multipliers unlockable.

A note on steppings; my 1800+ at 1800mhz is a AGKGA-Y, but better steppings are either AGNGA or AGOGA. AGOIA is the newest. The 2100+ XPs are all AGOIA so if you somehow find a 1800+ with that stepping then that is a gem and with a 13x multiplier will probably hit 2100+ speeds at stock voltage. You might not be able to find older CPUs with such a new stepping though. I don't know how many 1800+ or below CPUs they'll make as AGOIAs.

my 1600+ beats urs with the same stepping, u sure the prob is not w/ ur ram or something esle?

no its that i havent tried yet, i dont have stable cooling yet, its all expiramental rite now, basicly its a i galon jug of water with a pump in it and a little ice here and there.....

and my ram is bad too, and im gonna make a WB for the NB so i can cool it good....
