I need you guys to talk me into unlocking my 2000+ because right now I'm too chicken.

I want to lower the multiplier and raise the FSB (like everyone else around here) but want to know if the KT3 boards are fairing as well as the EPOX boards at this point. There's one post in the EPOX board where someone lowered their 2000+ 12.5 multiplier down to 9.5 and set FSB up to 200!!! Anyone get that with the KT3???

CONVINCE AWAY!!...

Yes, by lowering the multiplier and upping the FSB of your CPU is the only way to benefit from this board. If you do not do this, then you will not have any more performance than a board with the KT266A chipset.

162Mhz FSB

I have XP1600+ LOCKED, 256MB KingMax PC2400, o/c to 162Mhz FSB from BIOS. Using Fuzzy Logic III to 167Mhz FSB, not stable though.

I'm not sure whether there is 1/5 PCI Divider on this board, as I can't boot from BIOS at 166Mhz, POST couldn't be completed. Perhaps due to my LOCKED CPU.

This board is considerably very overclockable, not to the extreme of Epox, Soltek and Abit, but the overclockability of this board is pretty good. Anyhow why would you want 200FSB which u have to keep ur multiplier aroiund 7 or 8 but risking all other components to failure??

Heck I just want to get my FSB to 166, looks like I'm stuck at 146 though :-(

Ah well....

This KT3 board need to be cooked for some time then only it can unleash its overclocking potential. I've cooked for around 2 weeks at 145Mhz, occasionally approaching 150Mhz. Then I cooked my RAM (KingMax PC2400 256MB) for 166Mhz with HCLK+33 settings. I had to use 2.8v, CL2,2,5,2,4,4,disable, normal to be able to run at 166Mhz. After cooked the RAM for 1 day, the overclocking power of the KT3 has unleashed. I can go easily over 155Mhz now, best stable at 158Mhz, 160Mhz and the stability dropped at 162Mhz. At 163Mhz from BIOS, I start to see lots of BSOD.

Maybe you can try the same.
