Why did the sign an exclusive contract with sony for GTA:3/VC ? I mean isn't rockstar about getting their game on as many consoles and possible ? Also, I dunno if they were thinking about it, but they cost them self's alot of money by doing that exclusive contract, meh it'll be over this yearsometime "cant remember exactly when", but they'll have it out for GCN :) and xbox, but I think thats to little to late.

Huh? The game is out for PC and X-BOX currently and has been for quite a while....

unless you are asking why they did so originally, then its because Sony gave them a ton of money up front to make it an exclusive, but Rockstar was smart and made it time limited and later released it in huge success on the PC and X-box. So i believe they where smart and got the best of both worlds.

Ya... you know i woud bet that sony made a lot of money because people really wanted the bad *** GTA games but couln't get them any other way. And the fact that they were gonna come out later was kept pretty secret to most people too.

Also I think at the time many people in the industry doubted if the XBOX could make a dent in Sony's market share. So rockstar probably felt it was missing very little revenue at the time of the contract. Plus how can you say no to a couple hundred pounds of yen on your desk. I know I couldn't.

i read the title of this thread and was thinking you were talking about why they released manhunt... I was wondering the same thing... Do we really need another psycho killing game where you stab someones eyes out with a shard of glass?

agree manhunt dosent look evenn in the most rediculous wat entertaning.

Yup sounds great, dont it. Cant wait till it comes out on PC.

sony wanted to protect their marketshare against the threat of microsoft stealing their customers, so in an attempt to stop that threat they negotiated a contract with rockstar games that kept all gta games (not sure if it includes other rockstar games) on the playstation 2 for i beleive it was a year before it was released on other consoles. and possibly longer on xbox (havent read the actual agreement so im not sure:p)

we still get gta on our pc's, just means that we have to wait longer, and we have to buy a ps2 if we wanna play them right away.

to answer your question, rockstar did it cuz sony paid them lots of money to do it:)

I would think they'd come up with better name for a GTA set in LA.

And as stated above, that doesn't mean much.

The next GTA is a PS2 exclusive so people have to wait a while for the PC version again.

hey...do not get manhunt...the game is dumb!!!!!!!!!!!I've played it...6 levels into the game and they still refuse to build up any type of story...u basically get carried around by a faction group and kill everyone in the area...when you leave they kidnap u and bring u to another area and the cycle repeats....
