Why use a fan controller?

Some controllers even offer temp monitoring. My old controller gave me readings right on the panel. So you can check temps in real time.

Its nice to be able to control the inside temps while doing just about any activity.

A- i dont have to use unneccesary cpu power/ram to keep control of my fans
B- a couple of button presses allows me to control any of my fans in the case at any moment from 0 rpms-max rpms in increments of 500rpms....and having temp probes monitoring real time temps arent bad either...
C-hardware fan controllers dont crash:D

got a 220cfm delta, pulls 30 or so watts at 12v. Not fan controller could handle that. So i slapped a VR in there to keep her quiet. Found it got VERY hot. So now i have a p3 cooler attched to the back of it. Keeps pot temps down, and fan speed down. yay!

p.s thats three posts in a row about my delta :D

That's hilarious, your "fan controller" needs to be cooled by a fan. As for why I use fan controllers (Cooldrive 4, Musketeer 1), I pretty much have them there for looks. I hardly ever run my fans below 12V (11V in the case of the one connected to the Musketeer).

where did you get that VR ?? or rather what are the specs and stuff on it ...i been looking and havent been able to find one....i have that same delta 220 cfm beast ..... would appreciate the input ... :)

I'm still holding on to that you can buy a -> 3pin splitter -> 3pin extension -> 3pin to molex. and run as many fans as you want off one 3pin..... depending on the mobo and CPU?

Could we get some info on this. I'm curious.

you would be able to yes. as long as the max wattage the 3pin on the mobo is not excedded. if you have 2 slow fans say 3watts each and the 3pin on the mobo supports 16watts max. then add as many as you want as long as you dont go over 16watts.
