WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the 1700+ is a Tbred your board or atleast the bios may not support it properly, I would check the manufacturers website just to make sure and if they have a bios update you may want to flash to it.

Make sure your video card didn;t get inseated, I had this happen to me, had to remove it completely and then jam it in to make it all work. Also make sure your heatsink is not shorting out the bridges on the cpu.

worst thing is you used to have a palomino that's 1.75v default and you forgot to clear the CMOS and inserted the cpu w/c could be a t-bred w/1.5v default and fried it at 1.75v using stock alu HSF

no i have a amd thunder bird 1.0 and im trying to upgrade it to a amd 1700 tbred the motherboard im using is a msi k7t 266 pro2 i have not had a palomino in my system and i going to put the thunderbird 1.0 into my sons comp motherboard is a msi k7t turbo 2

did you clear CMOS before booting up ?? you have to do that. maybe check the MSI forums wether the K7t 266 pro2 will support T-breds

because MSI motherboards are lame !!!
mine is completly ****ed, its saying my memories bad and wont post even tho the memory works in this computer!!

does the board still work with the old cpu? does the new cpu work with another board ?? hopefully it's not a bad flash

never mind i did more research and found out that the k7t 266 pro 2 v.2.0 does not accept the xp 1700 tbred but the k7t turbo 2 does and i cant get anything to work it does not even boot up

after i flashed the bios and relized that the xp1700 does not work on my board i reinstalled the tbird 1.0 in my comp and everything works fine but when i put the 1700 in the k7t turbo 2 which supports the cpu nothing happens everthing turns on hdd runs cdrom runs but the monitor does not come on and there is no beeb when u turn on the comp
