While browsing the forums, I read several times that unlocking T-Breds will be MUCH harder than XPs/impossible.

Is this true ? If yes, why ?

Are there any pictures/hard data on this ? Or just rumour since AMD made it harder to unlock everytime a new Athlon came out

yes it will more so since the multis are set above 12 and most motherboards cant go that high.. but leaving the multi out of this... one article i saw that someone posted a while back unlocked a new t-bred so they could lower the multi and raise the FSB so it would be overall faster and same speed.. it takes CUTING a few traces with a dremal... and closing some.. but they made the cpu into a 1600 xp well the speed.. then they increased the multi and the FSB.. overall its not a good thing to go through for ur first unlock since u will be doing a lot of closing of traces and cuting a few traces... but if u have what it takes u can do it.. its not impossible just a ***** for the reguler joe blow..

The article I think your referring to was done with an XP2100+... not the T-Bred.... No one knows for sure about the t-breds as far as unlocking... but more than likely it will be somewhat similar to that article.

Not yet... AMD never meets deadlines from what I've read. I'm relativly new to AMD but I've been doing a whole schlew of reading up on them. I'd give it another couple weeks and we'll see the first batch.

It sounds like they might not be out until May from some rumors. Yes AMD is terrible for not releasing when they say they will but that just gives me more time to save a few more bucks. :D
The other thing that makes me think that the Tbred is going to later is that AMD has released an XP2200 and the XP2100 was supposed to be the last of the XPs.
I don't think they will be impossible to unlock but I think if they are like the 2100 you will have to have nerves of steel to do it! This is the article that was mentioned earlier on unlocking the XP2100: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1009
