I just got a True 380w Antec PSU off ebay today for like $8+ shipping. ATM i am using a 300w generic PSU and it's working just fine for what i am using it for. I don't really plan to OC my computer (atleast that much lol), but i do plan on getting a X800pro or 9800pro in the near future. My specs are in my sig so let me know what you experts think :p

BTW i mainly use my computer for FPS games like BF1942, UT04, and mmorpg's like Dark Age of Camelot. I run them fine, except i don't get all the eye candy i like hehe... but that'll get better once i get the video card :p

I think you better look into something a little stonger like a 450w+ . That 380w isn't gonna cut it for a X800pro or 9800pro . Also i suggest a brand name psu like a Fortron or Sparkle which are great deals on a quality, strong psu.

Antec is definitely a brand name psu... idk if 380 will be enough, but you can always try first.

lol last i checked Antec was a brand name :p

I will probably upgrade my PSU when i get teh new video card, but this is just going to get me by for now :)

Yes Antec is a very well known brand name psu, and the true blue's are known for being rock solid on all the rails. I'm don't know about intels, but that is one of the recomended psu's for nforce boards, which are very power hungry, and require a good 12v rail. For $8, you did good! I think they run in the $60 to $75 range at online stores.

I never said it wasn't. If you would've understood what i said in my post, i said to get a 450w+ or stronger brand named psu meaning not to get a fly-by-nite generic brand to save a few bux. i never posted nor implyed Antec wasn't a quality psu. I have an Antec 550w true power psu in my main.

sorry for misunderstanding, but reread your post. all three of us seemed to read it as saying antec wasn't a brand name.

Neb - I think people just misunderstood your post slightly :)

As for the original question, I would think a 400W+ PSU would be best for a modern CPU and power hungry card. However, if you already bought that PSU it shouldnt hurt to give it a try, but be prepared to get a more powerful PSU if it doesnt work out.

I am upgrading soon to a Fortron 530W PSU (or Sparkle). From what I've read... it's really worth it to OC high...

Well i just got a 5900NU video card and flashed it to a 5950ultra. My generic PSU is handleing a mild OC well. I just got my 380w Antec PSU in the mail today so i am gonna install that and see how much higher i can OC it =)
