I know I can't make it run at USB2, but can I make the USB2 adaptor that plugs into the motherboard work at all? The adaptor has a filled in pinhole so it doesn't fit without modification. If I were to bend over one of the USB pins on my motherboard and plug in the adaptor, would this work? Thanks!

I was under the impression that all cables and connectors with 2.0 were backwards compatible to 1.1. So I wonder why the header you have won't work?

Take a look at this site.

You should have the (somewhat) standard nine pin out shown. I would make sure that the pin out of the cable assembly that you are trying to use matches your motherboards USB header. And I've found that blocked pin holes in those cable connectors are very easy to drill out.

I would really try and avoid bending the pin over.

But above all, make sure the pin out of the motherboards header matches the cable.
