[H] has a similar thread, i went through it and got a list of WORKING items so far (if i get time i will do what doesnt)

so far this list is only programs and games, not drivers or hardware.

if you have software that works.. please include version numbers, or any tweaks you may have needed to do to get it to work.... the more info the better!

As i get more details i will include if certain items needs tweaks and what specifically, including links, where possible, to details to get said item to work

Working (information comes from various boards and forums ([H] | OCF | XS )
(some items may need compatibility mode / run as administrator, or even registry edits to work properly)

RED---Requires Registry Edits / direct file modifcation
ORANGE---Requires to be run as Administrator / compatibility mode
GREEN---Requires no modification to install and run

Awesome thread! I was wondering about a few of the programs listed but haven't had time to try it out so this thread is a time saver. I can say for certain that BF2 and BF2142 will not work due to the fact that punkbuster will not support W7. :(

My cuz says the latest uTorrent works great too. CoD:4 is fine on my machine as well as Crysis Warhead.

Yes Sir. Sometimes it takes a coupla tries for the Key authentication, but I have had no problems on ANY public server.

I know at least FFAHardcore has punkbuster, I see people getting booted all the time. In fact, I haven't played COD 4 online until I installed Win7.

Is there any way I can document this? I don't want to come off as just B.S'ing you guys.

just write the steps you do to get it to work, if it is simple like "just keep trying and eventually it may work" go ahead

witha Beta, something may work for others that dont for some. on [H] many people claim that they installed X program and it worked, other say they needed to do this and that., while other say it doesnt work at all!

So any info can help as i can then add that info into the list to be more specific, pointing specific items to links and more info if needed :)

See, I knew this was going to happen. I've seen probably 95% of the people here say that punkbuster kicks them while using W7 and then you get a couple people saying they play without a problem! There is a group of about 10 of us that play online together and we have all tried playing 3 different games that use PB and we ALL get kicked for the "Unsupported OS" I think the PB website even states that they will not support Windows 7.

I wish I could take credit for a killer fix-all, but i just installed CoD and when it asked to install PB, I just said yes :) I haven't played anything else online with Win7 yet. I'll install Crysis Wars and see if I get the same result. It supports PB too, right?

i have CoD4 myself and can try it, as well as Bf2 :)

this is the fun part of a beta, for some it may work, others it may not, is it a hardware driver issue, or a program issue :)

Did you update PB at all?

Not manually. I did install the 1.7 patch, but that wouldn't update PB, would it? I haven't had one issue with it, but if punkbuster stated that it doesn't support Win7, I don't know what to think. I have SEEN people be booted by PB for packet issues, etc. So that means my PB is being validated, right?

yup

i found an interesting possible bug

sanyone who plays a steam game, can you try to run winamp / Windows Media player, with music and then run a steam based game?

Playing Tf2 right now, i have winam / Windows Media player playing some mp3's, but everytime a map switches, winamp stop's the audio, as if the game overtakes the sound cards and stop's winamp from playing....

Win 7 has a few problems with U3 (thumb drive) software. Firefox 3 (U3) works, but add ons can be a bit flaky. Thunderbird (U3) will NOT work.

I had some trouble with some Adobe CS4 elements. Kept getting errors when trying to access the control panel.
