Windows 7 - what works and what doesnt

The new Google Earth 5 beta (as well as 4.3) install and load fine. However, it is unable to communicate with it's server. I manually added permissions in the windows firewall to no avail. It wants to use Internet Explorer to run it's diagnostics, and IE will NOT fuction at ALL on my machine.

Thanks for the post someone had to do it. All punk buster related issues will be fixed when its officially released.

Bf2 works fine but PB kicks still, I can play all game online with PB disable,
alcohol work
reshacker works
hostman works
google chrome works not problems yet
I can summit pic's of all working programs
Saitek controller works
dvd43 works
creative vista sound works fine with fi music
Msi capturing for tvwonder works tv@anywere

See, I knew this was going to happen. I've seen probably 95% of the people here say that punkbuster kicks them while using W7 and then you get a couple people saying they play without a problem! There is a group of about 10 of us that play online together and we have all tried playing 3 different games that use PB and we ALL get kicked for the "Unsupported OS" I think the PB website even states that they will not support Windows 7.

I'm sorry, but Even Balance doesn't support beta or release candidate
versions of operating systems, and as such checks such as these are
prone to fail. Once Windows 7 has a full commercial release, Even
Balance will offer full PunkBuster support to it.

Then I must have been mistaken when I said I was playing PB enabled servers. I played again last night and found no issue playing any server my ping was low enough to get into. I don't know what to think, but I was not intentionally spreading false info about my experience.


-Edit- I just logged into [TC]HardcoreFFA. It is a PB enabled server. I got to quick kills before I was fragged. I am positive this is the server that I've seen multiple PB kicks dues to mishandling packets as well as MD5 issues. It works. For me at least. In my server list, most if not all the servers are PB enabled. I have had zero issues.

sry unless you show proof of this I will not believe you we all can play for a few mins than eventually its kick. the head man at even balance says so and just about every user that has used win7 or a fix so we all can tryit too see for our selfs mybe you dont have PB enabled and you think it is

Tuneup Utilities 2009 doesn't work. It installed (with errors) even when ran under every possible compatability mode.

And it has trouble integrating in the shell.

However there is a substitute that works almost flawlessly called Glary Utilities (and is also free :])

SIS work good System information for windows, the icons in taskbar can be resized, desktop still checken on that.
You can change the way windows opens, tabs or windows

[H] has a similar thread, i went through it and got a list of WORKING items so far (if i get time i will do what doesnt)

if you have software that works.. please include version numbers, or any tweaks you may have needed to do to get it to work.... the more info the better!

Amazingly 3dna desktop works well with win7, better than xp unable to install with vista beta.
Nero burning rom from cd OEM when I bought LG DVD would not install from auto play. Installed from the setup folder fine.
Powerdvd would not install
Power producer would not install
Windvd 4.1 installed fine does not show the osd panel play works fine
Dvd moves play fine in media player.
SQL2000 server admin and client configured properly no intervention required.
Bf2 plays no issues except PB
2142 no issues except PB

most of those utilities these days are useless, especially under Vista and WIndows 7, your probably better of not installing them in the end, both OS's do alot of self maintenance.

Include in the does not work is I.E it works, to use IE it's frustrating. To submit a working program it most not be. So I include IE as a none functional component at the moment. You have to turn the security to nill before anything workz than at the WHITE PAGE.

Firefox work flawless, or goggle chrome not one issue with google chrome.

I'm impressed with the flexibility of windows 7 here is a pic, really this should not work no intervention at all. Compare the pic of this to the post I summited 3dna desktop big quality difference. My snipit had was a little off

Thanks rich I was going to test but I'm glad you showed proof thanks lots trusting has to be earned and so far your starting to be trust worthly.

Stupid Question but how do you tell if something is running in compatibility mode??
