windows nt 4.0 and compaq problem

i want to help out a friend who has a compaq ipaq computer.its something he got real cheap from work.the problem is it has windows nt and it wont recognize the high speed modem,and to make the matters worse we both dont know a lot about that operating system.i want to get rid of the nt and put in winxp but the computer doesnt have a floppy only a cdrom so how do i format and reinstall. any help is appreciated

You'll need to set it up to boot from the XP CDROM. Install should take right off.

I wouldn't put XP on it. Sounds like its an oldie, and XP doesn't like slow computers.
