Hi,
Has anyone experienced Windows rotting? It usually happens to me all the time with ANY windows os. I was using Windows XP for 1 month and it was very fast on my p4 2.4ghz(boot up times, load times etc) and after 2 months of using it, Now its slow and sometimes unstable. Why does this happen?
Thx

Lots of things.... Could be updates you are downloading maybe???....

or the most likely idea is that you install that much stuff on your computer it slows down... don't worry its common...

Yes Windows XP does tend to rot away. You install programs, that eats up registry space. Even though you may delete your programs, some registry files remain which causes bloat and slower load times or sluggish response. But not always.

I end up reformatting about once a month because my installation goes to crap also.

Spyware can slow your PC down quit a bit as well. Make sure you have some sort of spyware removal program and run it every few days. You'll be amazed how much spyware you can accumalate without knowing it. That is if you don't already do this.

I use Spybot search and destroy.
