I just got all the parts for my new media center PC. Abit 865G, Pentium4 2.6C, buffalo pc3200, codegan microatx case, fx5200, maxtor 80gig, generic dvd. The problem is that when I boot from the windows XP pro CD, after it gets done loading the preliminary files, it says loading windows (right before it goes into where it asks if you want to repair or not) right here the computer shuts down, it does it in the same place everytime, I've tried 2 different hard drives, 2 different CD's. anyone know of this problem? hardware related?

It might be an bad memory stick. I had the same problem once with trying to install Windows. It turned out that a stick of memory was bad. Once the bad stick was taken out Windows installed with no problems.

is there a bootable cd for memtest, cause I dont have a floppy drive for it, and the case doesnt have room for one anyways (long story)

Its just running at stock, I'm having some problems with actually booting from cd now... I'm gonna try another CD drive tommorow if i can find one, then I'll post back.

Well heres the deal, I've tried 3 different CD's now, 2 different hard drives, 2 different power supplies, and 2 different ram modules. I have no clue whats doing this, I'm going to email abit tonight and see if they can help me... it seems like the only thing it could be is the motherboard.
