do i need to flash my bios?

You may not need a BIOS upgrade as much as you need a new XP compatible driver. When you load XP, you will be given the opportunity to load any necessary drivers to help it find the hard drive(s). Check your motherboard (if the RAID controller is on-board) or RAID card's manufacturer's site to see if there are any new drivers available for your board. While you are there it never hurts to find out if your BIOS has a more recent revision as well.

And if you can't find the driver--ASK for it!
