So I got my car right before wireless Android Auto was really a thing. And frankly since the USB port for wired AA is in the armrest, I never really used it since the cable wrapped around things and it just got clunky.

Earlier today I was poking around Amazon and a wireless adapter popped up - apparently there are a few such no name adapters floating around. Doing a bit more digging revealed that Motorola also makes one. Having a name brand behind it took some of the suspicion out of it, and actually ordered one before reading some reviews and cancelling.

My two questions are

1) Has anyone tried one of these adapters? The turn off for me was that even the Motorola branded one had reviews of occasional cutouts on longer drives, which in all honesty is likely the only time I'd use it.

And

B) is Android Auto even worth it? My car already has onboard GPS, hands free BT, all that jazz. Using AA and having to constantly switch between my phone and the car UI seemed rough compared to just using the car's onboard stuff.

I wouldn't worry about the cutouts on long journey's , most likely is that the reviewer lost cell coverage.

I never use AA , I only use BT. I never got the point.

I like google maps better than Ford and Acura's Navi... otherwise, MEH.

Audi's isn't great, isn't terrible. Only downside is I don't need another cell line bill so I never set up the ATT account for it and don't get live traffic.

But thanks, both of you - I'll think a bit more but so far sounds like it's not worth it.

Personal preference I guess. For me it has always been awful. I also stream a lot so being able to control Spotify is helpful. I also hate the navigation even though it came with GPS.
