Well I posted about reformatting my friends computer earlier but ran into another problem. He has wireless internet on a tower I was wondering if new Hardware (100 meg ethernet card) would help or some software settings would do the trick? It might be a usb connection because its too dark and im drunk....lol

Ok I'v looked around and I'm downloading Everest to find out he's drivers. I think the internet Hookup is D-Link. Anyone know much about em? I'm trying to boost he's connection speed but I'm thinking it Might just be a weak signal. Anyways if anyone thinks they know a thing or two about the d-link and think they could speed it up My ears are open.

but what is the problem? lol no connection??
going into the device manager see if there are any question marks or ! mark. if there is post the name of that on here. there is a model number on your d-link just turn it around and go to there website download newest driver/firmware and your set.

What network is he connecting to? His own? A neighbors? A citywide WiFi? Is running ethernet cables an option (always the most secure and fastest option for a desktop).

If you are reformatting do you know what kind of security is being used? Have all the keys?

Sorry for taking so long to reply.I just got my cable turned on at my house and I'm using my computer. Anyways there isn't really a problem I was just trying to get it to get a faster connection speed. It was only at 11megs and mine is 100megs so I wasn't used to it being so slow. As for the connection location, He lives in a apartment so I'm geussing he sucking it off someones connection in the house. Untill I get back down there I don't know anything about the software and how long it's been updated. When I go back I'll check into updating it
