i got my wireless network working but ones i step foot outside my house the signal goes dead. i go downstairs (5 stories) the base is close to my window but my laptop sez that the signal is weak and practically dies right there. my friends tells me its the PCMIA card and i kinda belive him so i need advice. the wireless access point router whatever is 2.4ghz. (802.11b) so what PCMIA cards can i use to gimme a good range (maybe a city block or 2) thnx.

No PCMCIA card is going to have that kind of range. 300-400' unobstructed line of sight is about all you are going to get. If you change the antenna on the AP you will be able to increase the range. There are a good number of high quality omni antenna manufacturers out there.
