yay!!! i just unlocked my first processor.. i figure i had too because i couldn't get the 166 fsb to run stable with prime 95.. it just wouldn't go.. i am following the guide at the top of this forum.. the amd overclocking guide.. im trying 9.5 at 166 mhz fsb.. man i need some better ram.. i wouldn't even mind staying at the same clock speed to keep the 166 fsb... man i hope this gives me the results im looking for... sorry for the stupid post..im just all antsie in my pantsie. got home from work at 1.everyone asleep but my unlocking kit was on my desk so i just had to do it...noone to share my glory with though damn...except you overclockers forums... god bless you or something

NOT YOUR RAM????
1) PC2700 is SUPPOSED to do 166, so that should not be an issue. AND, the samsung seems to OC well for most people.
2) You can try dropping the MULTI WAY down (like 8), then start cranking the FSB up. Your componets look good, that memory is solid, I should think 180 should be easy, 166 is just a given unless something is wrong.
3) As you up the FSB, (with the REALLY low multi) its hard to tell if your mem gives in or your PCI stuff gives in first. Way to check is see how far you get. THEN, relax your memory settings (get off the cas 2 for now ) if you can crank it further, then its your memory. Either lower the FSB back down so you can get the cas2, OR, up the ram voltage to hit the cas2 at the higher FSB.
Once you know how high a FSB your other componets can get to, start increasing the CPU multi till the CPU screams. THEN, either stop, or up the CPU voltage.
GOOD LUCK, don't burn nothin.

no really its ridiculous... i couldn't get cas2 at 166...so i dropped it down normal... i think its my video card. or something ..right now i am at 174.. but everytime i rally start pushing this thing. my screen dumps on me.. i need to get heat spreaders. i bought some for my wifes pc(when it was still mine).. seemed kinda stupid.. her ram runs cas2 fine but its 2100.. i would go get some heat spreaders but the ones they sell at the store in my town have this retarded rubber barrier ****..like an eight of an inch thick.. im like what kinda heat you spreadin
..anyway yeah help would be appreciated....i see other people air cooled ,pretty much the same setup they do fine.. i think the 166 w/0 the unlcok was the processor. just can't get 1800... don't really care..im going for the high fsb but now my vid card is crapping..i think.. the screen just gets all garbled and i restart...bout to shutfown and put a fan on that son of a *****
