I am in the process of upgrading my system. I am upgrading everything but the mobo and the cd-rw drive. Is it worth to upgrade my drives to sata? I have one drive as windows, the other as media files.

Personally, I've just recently ordered a SATA drive and I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have to buy a new HD anyway. It's not like upgrading a video card or CPU... I expect to get a little boost, but my WD Special Edition HD's always benched farily close to current SATA performance anyway.

If it's a barely noticable improvement in benchmarks, it's probably not even noticable during day-to-day activity.

I did, however, feel like my new HD should be SATA. Going forward, IDE drives will go the way of PCI video cards. They aren't going to become extinct anytime soon, but the price is in-line with IDE drives, the cables are nice to work with, so why not?
