I dont know for sure that the Fortron 550 would neccessarily been better, but I do know that they make top notch PSU's. My guess would be yes.

...nice....i might look into getting a true power 550 if I can find one online for less then $100 :D

ya think the true control would be worth it?....what exactly does it let you control and how....thanks:D

The Fortron 550 is an EPS (24-pin) unit designed for server usage. Most of its output is centered on the 12V side. I would not recommend it for desktop PC usage; the new 530W Fortron is a beast and designed for the type of application you are purchasing for.

*edit* BTW, there is nothing wrong with a TP430. There is no elegant solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

I'm using the fortron 530 watt, and it's the best I've ever had. Really like it alot. I had a tp430, but I like this one better.

I just got my 530w from newegg and it's schweeeeeeeeeeeet

She's a real powerhouse brute.

...........I like larva has to say.............there is no real power or stability problem.......so I think I am gunna save some$$$$ and get me a 430 for like $80 shipped:D

How is the cable length on these PSUs? I have a fairly large tower and my Antec cables are decently long but as I am upgrading my system, I will be upgrading my PSU as well.

Yeah I made the mistake of buying the 460watt Fortron from directron and ended up exchanging it for a Antec Control 550...Checked around and cannot seem to find this "new" 530...Help me out guy's...:)

how exactly is the 460watt fortron a mistake? i bet it's just as good as teh antec control 550 and it probably costs half as much...

the fortron 530 can be had at newegg for $75

Well the really big mistake is that it has a 24pin power connector...Not the "standard" 20pin ATX connector...Even the P-4 connector on the 460 from directron has 8pins...Luckily I read the product description before I tried to install it and directron exchanged it for me...:)...I am blind in one eye and cant see out of the other...but I still do not see a 530watt Fortron @ newegg...;)
