Would you like to have a P!!! 512K if the price drop!?

P!!! 512K L2 Cache 1.26G = around $200US

what do you guys think about these two CPUs?

i am currently using [email protected] + Abit ST6-R +512MB PC-133 SDRAM

is there going to be a huge difference in performance!?

is it overclockable!?

or do you guys still recommend a Celeron or P4 !?

P.S. looking for a small upgrade, so maybe P4 is not a good choice

I think Intel really needs to drop the prices on P3/Cel. Compare the prices to a 1.6a or 1.8a and it's a no brainer IMO.

If I were you, I'd get an Celeron Tualatin 1 GHz A, with 256KB L2-cache. These chips are really overclockable. The newer ones are easier to overclock than mine, that's to say they need less voltage.
1,33 GHz should be easily reachable.

It's around 62$ at the moment!

If so...just post your benchies so that we can all see that HUGE
kind of difference in performance.

well, i use a P-III S 1.13GHz.. it could do 155MHz FSB but i use the system as 24h/7d server. so it runs only @ 147MHz FSB, 1255MHz.

it gots a cpu mark from 4022, memory mark from 2562
memory triad of 592MB/sec and quake 3 arena @ 1024x768x32, high detail, vertex and anistropic from 172FPS

system is
P-III S 1.13GHz @ 1.26GHz
256MB MCI/MDT PC150 CL2
ABIT BE6-II /w PL-iP3/T
RADEON 8500

I havent run the same benchies like yours....so i can only post
the Sandra benchies if you want.

Also about the Quake,vertex,fps....ech.....its more like a vga performance and not cpu.

hm. well its only a 1.13GHz P-III S
the 1.26GHz P-III S @ 1.62GHz with i815EB Board does over 5000 CPU Marks..
i had a t-celly sys for testing... [email protected].. it does around 3600 CPU Marks.. the difference is NOT too huge with the 1.13GHz P-III S but next time i get a faster P-III S (hope the 1400MHz or 1533MHz, then it is a big difference).
however..post your benches please

Well , i think i've made my point clearly and there is no need to continue this conversation.

I just wanted to point...that you must really watch out the expessions you use.

There are many people reading these threads...and they dont need to be confused over simple matters that can easily be proved and maybe guided to wrong impressions.

why would you buy a p3 1.2, for $200, when you can get at 1.6a for $138, and a 1.8a for $188? those 1.6a's are highly overclockable, and i am thinking of getting a 1.6a or a 1.8a because i am having problems getting my 2.0a over 127 fsb. just my thoughts.

We are talking about the Tualatins just because he wont have to change anything else in he's current system.

....and of course for someone that is starting now to built a new pc.....the best way is to go for a 1.6-1.8 Northy and a SiS 645 chipset mobo.

i know what i say.. and sisoft sandra is not a realy good benchmark, everybody knows that, wo knows how it was developed.

so plz.. post pc-mark 2002 score and wstream..
