I've finally decided on getting a Logitech Z-5500 but im stuck when it comes to the sound card. The ones that I found on newegg that were realtivly in my price range are the Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum 7.1 and Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum. So which would be the best overall and pro and cons of each. I plan on using it for games and music and the occasional movie

Thanks

The X-Fi is going to give you better sound quality than the Audigy 2 ZS, I guess it boils down to how much you want to spend. I just upgraded to an X-Fi Fatal1ty from an Audigy 2 ZS, and there is heck of a difference in sound quality.

between the Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum 7.1, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum, and Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS 7.1 the only price difference is 8 dollars

*edit*

the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum comes with a 100 dollar rebate also, only 83 buxs

vote for x-fi since i have one, may as well invest your money in something that has a future in games ands what not, sure you can go Sb but hardly any games support it now.

The Audigy 4 Pro will give better sound quality than a low-end X-Fi, but doesn't have as many features as the X-Fi.

You can find an Audigy 4 Pro on eBay new for ~ $80. It comes with a pretty nice breakout box as well.

Obviously the X-Fi has more game support but the Audigy 4 Pro's DACs are the same as the uber expensive X-Fi Elite Pro/EMU-0404.

If your major concern is games, go for X-Fi.

EDIT -- Do not buy the Audigy 2 ZS. Waste of money imho.
