Has anyone else been playing this game?

Man, this is like freelancer x10 :D

Ive been playing for like a week straight while leaving SETA on overnight to get some cash. The game universe is huge I havent even explored half of it yet.

If everyone doesnt know wtf im talking about go to www.egosoft.com

Dying to try the game myself , but there are mixed reviews/ user comments . Hopefully there will be a full demo out soon , if not , I may have to break down a try it anyway . Gogamer also has it onsale for $35 .
Tempting , but holding out for a better price or demo so far .

That movie thing almost looks like they tried to make a demo, but gave up and decided to turn it into a benchmark instead. There's an option called Input Device where you can change throttle, rudder, and force feedback. I hope there's going to be a demo out soon because the graphics alone looks sweet. If it offers alot more interactivity than freelancer, I'm sold.

Btw, does it include a MP mode like freelancer?

I found X2 to be boring.

Battles are no where near as fun as in Freelancer and I could not get used to the controls. Graphics are good... but I dislike the gameplay.

I dun remember if it had multiplayer, but I'm thinkin no.

I guess ill write a little more about the game than my previous post. I was playing it while I posted that, lol.

First of all this game requires a lot of paitence in the start, but once you get your industry going it gets a lot more exciting because you can actually afford some things now :p

This game is huge I sort of cheated and downloaded a universe map to figure out where the hell im going, lol There are about 135 systems (I might have mised a couple on the count). Which are owned by 8 different species.

The controls do get some getting used to, you cant change them either (aside from a few buttons) A joystick is completley configurable though. Now that ive memorized the controls they are alright, you use *a lot* of keys on the keyboard to play this. The keyboard is used far more than you would think in a space flight game.

The game is far far more extensive than freelancer There are about 70 different ships you can own, and you can configure them tons of different ways. Although I find myself just maxing out all the stats on all my ships once I can afford it, lol
You can build your own fleet and get into massive space battles. Ive been playing for over a week now and ive aquired a whole 3 ships and about... 25 buildings.
Im raking in the credits now though, im trying to save up for a destroyer :D (14 gun mounts  ) I just purchased a M6 corvette (an argon Centuar) and a M3 Fighter (Large Argon Nova). I still have my M5 fighter (discoverer, scout ship) that you start out with, which I can dock in my corvette. I also have about 50 transport ships for my various factories but those dont really count, lol

You can remotley control *everything* of yours in this game. So I can sit in a friendly system under the protection of a nice large carrier and destroyer while I run my economy :D I have that to the point now where I dont have to micro manage it all. I only have to go into the Owned property menu to transfer my earned credits from my buildings to my personal account.
Now is where the game is getting really fun, I started going through the storyline again (I only did like the first 2 or 3 missions then went off and did my own thing) which is really fun when you have an uber fighter.
If you didnt play the previous X series of games you might be a tad lost in the storyline but on disk 2 they include all the storyline of the Xuniverse in pdf files.

The graphics rule. Will definatly stress your videocard. In a few systems my fps plummets on my 9800pro. But im also running at 1600x1200 with fsaa.
There is plenty to do in the game. Trade, industry (micromanage factories to get the most credits possible), there are bounty hunter missions, race missions, transport missions, escort missions, "No questions asked" missions lol, and the storyline missions :p

There is some bad stuff to the game. Like mentioned in a previous post, controls are a tad odd, they take a while to get used to so you are good at fighting.
The AI blows. The battles with the Khaak and Xenon (the 2 main enemies, basically they always hate you) consist of a few minutes of dogfighting then when they get damaged they just ram your ship and blow themselves up. Battles with the other species are a little more intresting. Ive almost wiped out the pirates, lol. I think I have like 1 more of their bases to desotry.
It also takes a *long* time to get started. I was about to give up on the game but then I got enough credits to build my first building and start to make some money. After your first 3 buildings or so things go a little quicker.

My main plan in the game is to get a couple large fleets and kill the Split.
I hate the split.
Ill take over all their sectors with my own buildings once they are gone :p

Very nice game update BigRed . Thx a bunch ;) :D

Probably the only thing that keeps me from getting the game at the moment is the fact of the many keyboard commands vs using the mouse for most commands in simular games such as HW2 .

I will further ponder this delema ..... :p
