x800pro>x850xt?

I am trying to decide on a card for my new rig i will be getting. I am deciding between the x800pro and the x850xt, i will have $400 to spend on the card and the fortron AX500-A which must be purchased also. My buddy has an x800pro on this koolance water cooling system and its clocked at core-560 and mem-590 and he gets about 6600 in 3dmark05 with his 3200 venice stock. Although i wont have water cooling i would use the saved money to buy the zalman cooler and hopefully get good results also. I was reading on some of the reviews on newegg for the card and people were getting like 5200 in 3dmark05, is this right? So what would you do? This card will also be paired with a 3000 venice, hopefully at 2.5ghz with stock cooling.

Hmm... go for a 7800GT for that price. You can get one AND the Fortron for $400, I believe. Sorry if you're strictly sticking to the X800 or X850.

I had my eye on the 7800gt but once taxed and shipped with the AX500-A it was above 400, so i really only have about $280 for a card.

Where are you placing the order for the fortron? I believe they can be had for around $75 leaving you with $325 for the card.

This will all be done on newegg, but can an x800pro really beat a x850xt? Because if i got the x800pro and the zalman cooler i would have $70 left over and could possibly get a new cpu cooler or something.

An overclocked X800PRO can beat a stock X850XT, but only with luck and really good cooling (Like phase change).

Yeah, buy the Fortron for cheaper and get the 7800GT.
