i have just got gta4 and a xbox 360 controller(not one for windows just a normal controller). I want to use it to play the game but when i plug it in nothing happens. vista doesn't recognize it at all or even aknowledge that i've plugged it in, if looked in device manger, nothing and in usb game controller in control panel, still nothing. The ring on the controller just flashes green. I have tried installing drivers and software but i get nothing. i have got vista ultimate x64 sp1.

any help would be appriciated

thanks

Did ya try a different USB port or a different device in that same port? I have Vista 64 Ultimate running as well and the controller works flawlessly..

yes i have tried it in usb ports on the front and on the back of my pc. i know they work as well cos i just plugged in my usb stick and it works. do you think the controller could be faulty.

i have downloaded and installed the latest windowss updates. and i have have installed the drivers from the microsoft website and I still have the same problem. Windows doesn't aknowledge that i have plugged in a usb device. the 4 green lights on the controller just flashes in a ring.

if its a wired one it should be plug and play, if its a wireless one your going to need to press the connect button on the top of the remote and possibly pressed the connect button on the USB reciver.

flashing green rings on a wireless controler means its trying to turn the console on and recive a reponse to connect to the console
