I didn't know where to put this. It seemed like it would fit here. A buddy at work wanted to know if it would be possible to hook his Xbox up on a wireless router. I don't have an Xbox so I couldn't give him an answer.

Would this work wireless? The wireless router I have has cards that plug into my laptop but no phone style plug. Do they make such an animal?

I doubt you need to buy and officially supported one. I would put money down saying that just a normal ethernet to wireless bridge would work, as long as it is the same wireless specification (a, b, g).

I can say that most D-link brand routers will allow an Xbox to work after a firmware upgrade. Don't know about the wireless part though.

yes its possible, xbox itself is selling wireless adaptors, or you could just open the box up and there is an extra pci slot where you could put a regular wireless pci card in

I think it should work. I will be hooking my GameCube up on my wifi in a couple of days since theres only once TV near my DLink 614+. I'd try a XBox the next time my buddy brings his over since my firmware says XBox compatible.

Do you have a linkn of where someone did it that way? Since wouldnt it need software to run it via a PCI slot?

No that wouldnt work, I garuntee it. Not only would it require software, but I am quite sure there is no simple pci slot.....

As for what to use, go with one of these http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=38&prid=558
or

D-link and Microsoft offer ethernet to wireless bridges also, but they seem more expensive. Im getting the B adapter so I can ftp my x-box to my comp.

HOWEVER, it is kind of import to know what he wants to do. If he wants to play online with tunneling software, a certain setup is required I think. Check the forums at xbconnect.com if this is what he is planning to do.
