After upgrading to SP2 and the latest DX9... All audio from Far Cry went away :(
I reinstalled the patches for Far Cry.

I'm Uninstalling and Reinstalling now...
Anyone else had this problem?

I'd try reinstalling the sound blaster drivers.. I could image SP2 could cause some garbaging here.

Cheers, Flix

Reinstalled Sound Drivers... no dice
I had sound on every other game and system feature, but not in Far Cry.
reinstallation of the game didn't fix. I had to remove and reinstall Far Cry.
Even after that, the game would run for 15 secdonds, then freeze... reload the graphics, and run for another 10-15...
That was unacceptable.
I restored back to the SP2 installation point and am in the process of reinstalling Far Cry AGAIN for the 2nd time today! :temper:

try this:

Anyone having problems getting sound to work again just got into your FarCry folder and open the file called: system.cfg in notepad. scroll down to s_SoundEnable. If you don't have sound it should look like this:

s_SoundEnable = "0"

To enable sound just change the 0 to a 1 and save and then close the file and your good to go. Should look like this:

s_SoundEnable = "1"

Don't get SP2 yet. Unless your willing to be putting in alot of trouble reports :mad:
YES SP2 IS A BETA!

Thanks Mica
I'm on my 3rd installation today with my FAR Cry.
I restored my registry from Thursday and it appeared to remove all the updates I did.
After installation I'm gonna make sure about that setting in the config file.

Update:
It's now been about 6 hours that i've been wrestling with my computer.
I eventually have had to download a registry editor application that searched for bad or un-needed entries.
I uninstalled Farcry (after copying my saves over)
cleaned my registry.
rebooted
and am on my 5th reinstallation of the game. *phew*
Whatever you do... do NOT download the SP2 from microsoft... :temper:

^^ did not plan on downloading it until long after being released - so all those other people can go through the ehadaches nad i will stillg et some, but a minimal amount.

I haven't had any problems so far with SP2. So far I like the built in popup blocker, but at times certain aspects can be a little annoying.
