hey all,

I ordered an XP1700+ from Gameve.com
According to the webpage, I was supposed to get this:

AXDA1700DUT3C 9782376250467
JIUHB 0309UPMW

Instead..I got this:

AXDA1700DUT3C 9496255270986
JIUHB 0312XPMW

Is it at least equal???

thx

Thats a week 12 1700...the last week that they are supposed to be made...give it a try and let us know...

will do

I have to read about burning it in....I want this one to last a while...
Any simple procedures to burning it in???

I have an MSI KT3 Ultra2 so I will only be able to get 1.7V without a mod..

Alot of people run Prime 95 but I acutally just "fold" or play UT 2003 for a while and then check the temps. Or wait for the system to fail.

Before i start to overclock my chip, I usually crank the voltage up to around 1.9v, but since you have a DUT3C there, you may want to try 2.0v, and then run Prime95 for at least 24 hours strait. Make sure your temps aren't getting too high: way over 50C (a little over isn't that big of a deal, but like 5-9 degrees over and you need to lower the voltage).

Alot of people say that this is waste of time, and a CPU only gets worse with use, but in my experience this method can actually give you a little better overclock. My 1700 had hit a wall at around 2.43Ghz for a long time: no matter what I did, it wasn't stable at any speed higher. I then decided to give this method a try, and after 36hours of stressing the CPU at 1.9v, I hit 2.5Ghz successfully, and if I had a little better cooling (soon enough, soon enough) I believe i could hit 2.55Ghz. Try it if you want: the only thing you have to loose is a little time on your computer.

I have found toast and folding to be the best at burning in...I have had Prime95 running all day before but once I started up toast...the system locked within an hour...

Toast and CPU Burn-in are also good programs. I have found that they get your CPU a little hotter than Prime, so you can see what your actual full load temps will be. I personally go with Toast for the same reason Glock said, but most people here swear by Prime, so I usually post using that example.

You can find Toast here: http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/files.php?dir=171

You can find CPU Burn-in here: http://users.bigpond.net.au/cpuburn/

Hope this helps.

thx guys...I really appreciate it....
Personally, the only thing I am really looking for is a minimum of 12 X 166 (2Ghz) at no more than 1.7V

I am quite capable of performing a volt mod, but not sure if I really need to do it given the smaller OC I am looking for...

I do like tinkering tho, so I might look at what it will take to do a mod on a KT3 Ultra2. I think it is a 50K pot in between 2 pins on a small chip.. Just need to bring home a smaller soldering iron from work.

I will keep you posted on the OC...thx again

Hey,

how do you tell the diff b/t the 1.5v and 1.6v 2100+?
I am thinking about getting one from excaliberPC.com

The clue is in the CPU code.

The first line, on the black bit on the CPU package, at the end will be:
  • DUT3C for a 1.6V CPU
  • DLT3C for a 1.5V CPU

thanks a bunch mate!

Something else that might be important: you will want a Thoroughbred B, where the first five characters of the second line are: xxxxB. Not a thoroughbred A, where the stepping code ends in A.

Yeah, i have a B version right now but am selling it to my dad when i build a pc for him. I want to get a better stepping for better OC'ing.

But i can't seem to find the DLT3C 1.5V 2100+ at excaliber.
Also is there a good week that people have been getting good results at?
What would you recommend that i look for?
Is there a better place to buy at then excaliberpc?

Thanks,
Gage

There aren't DLT3C 2100+ to my knowledge. Only 1700+ and 1800+ have Tbred B 1.5v

hmm...i think i must have been reading about a 1700+ but i thought they were refering to the 2100+.
Anyway, what then is the best stepping, date, ect. to get for a 2100+?

On excaliber a B version is listed here

Model # AXDA2100DUT3C
Stepping Code : AIUHB
Exact Date Code : 0247

is this one a good one to get or would you recommend something else?

the kt3 ultra 2 is easy enough to vmod, i used an 18k(i think) ohm resistor, if i set at 1.7 i get 1.75 and if i set at 1.85 i get 1.94. however, the L11 bridges are easier to mod on the chip and those will let you set default at 1.75 and the board will let you go to 1.85. more than enough to hit your 2ghz mark

if you can show me someone that scientifically proves "burning in" works.. i'll try it...

until then... burning in is a myth to me...

For people that don't/won't try it...thats a great excuse to not do anything

This should be no problem...I can run my 310 W at 12.5x166 at default voltage (1.5)...
