hey guys! I've read a fair few ppl say that the 2500-M is a better o/cer than the 2600-M model! is this true and if so why as from the specs one would think thay'd be almost identical.

thanks!

Lottery.

Very early 2400+ mobile Bartons hit amazingly high overclocks.

Now any 2400+, even the 35 watters can hardly match average 2500+ mobile Barton overclocks.

Right now, I think as long as you don't go with 2400+, your chances are similar.

I can't say which is better, I for one always like More more more more. I'm addicted... to MORE!! So I got the 2600+. I'm glad I did too. I got it from NewEgg back in June.

Ya i'd say the xp2600, great overclocker, amazing temps. Just make sure you get the IQYHA MPMW stepping.

Yea, my mobile 2400+ is awesome. But now I guess the 2500+ seems to be better than the 2600+. Not to mention its cheaper. So I guess you should go with the 2500+ if you want good price/performance.

Yeah there might be higher oc's with the 2600, but maybe less people get to that oc? I knew someone who's 2600 only got to 2.3, and thats the main reason I would recommend getting the 2500+. My cpu runs pretty hot, but thats because I've had AS3 (yes 3) on it for maybe half a year (I have a Tt silent boost). I guess its on the quality cpu you get.

its luck of the draw really, some 2500+s will beat 2600+'s and vise versa, id go with a 2600+ tho.

If it all comes down to luck, I would say look at the price difference. If there isn't much of a difference stick with the 2600, if there is a big jump get the 2500+.

Price is not an issue, its like 5-10 bucks. Usually people go with xp2600-m's cuz they have a higher chance of getting a good overclocking stepping.

There is alot of variables that goes into the specs. The three biggest that are that they both have the same FSB which is big now saying that the multipliers are locked on both, they have the same L2 cache, but the only difference in the two is that at stock the 2600 is 2.0GHz and the 2500 is 1.88GHz. So if the price is close I'd go with the 2600 easily.
