XSPC D5 pump/res combo Noise

Hello Again!

I ended up ordering the Raystorm kit from Dazmode. The kit included XSPC dual bay reservoir that holds the D5 vario pump. EX240 Rad. Raystorm CPU block. 7/16 tubing and compression fittings. I replaced the stock fans with 2 noctua 12p fans which seem to be working great so far.
i7 950 CPU
Air cooling - 3.8Ghz - idle 50ish load - 87
Water cooling 3.8 idle - 35 load 56
I have pushed it to 4.0 now with idle 38 and load 64 after a few hours of prime95 small.

I initially had the speed setting on the pump on 3, but was quite annoyed with the vibration noise I was getting. I tried putting some dynamat underneath and on the side of the metal bay and putting some foam on the sides of the res but this didn't seem to help to much. I now have the speed setting on 2 which has helped a ton with the noise while not affecting the temps.

Two questions:
1) How can I decrease the noise with the speed higher?

2) When I add a GPU block for my gtx 580, will the speed of 2 be ok?

GPU blocks are not very restrictive, but a setting of two... Might have to monitor temps.

You have a vibration? If so any loose rivet etc could be vibrating from the pump. Any way you can remove/isolate the res/pump with longer tubes to see if the noise quits?

The vibrations seem to be caused from the pump being attached to the reservoir, and the reservoir touching the case. When the res is removed (tubes are JUST long enough) the vibration stops and it is much quieter. Is this a common noise?
 
Yep, depends on the case, the harmonic resonance of the metal sides. All pumps vibrate to a tiny degree. In the right situation it can be amplified. Your best bet is to do your best to isolate the XSPC res the best you can.

Or go a simple T line and mount the pump without the res.

Keep at it, you'll figure it out.

Strange enough I started playing with the pump speeds and found that the pump at 2 and 4 there were no vibrations, but at speed 3 (my initial setting) there were vibrations. Must have been an odd resonance. Well needless to say I have it at 4 right now and have my i7 950 OC to 4.0 GHZ with idle temps around 38 and load around 67. Keep in mind I only have a EX240 Rad. I may add another EX120 Rad at the rear of the case though.

Is it worth it to jump it up to 4.2 and have load temps at 75? or push even higher?
 
Is the extra heat generated in your room and the extra electricity worth it? Depends on your needs. If the 4.0 is fast enough then? The extra .2 GHZ is only 5% faster.

The only gains I would imagine is a bit lesser encoding times for DVDs and other things that take lots of time to do. Gaming etc, you'll see no diff.

Yeah, very true. It is very much fast enough for me right now. I do not do any movie/photo editing and even if I did, another .2 wouldn't be worth it. How much of a temperature a drop would I gain if I added a EX120? Keep in mind I will eventually be watercooling my GTX580.

Math. You have xx rad now, add rad DT drops. Add more cooling or divide your wattage. It drops your DT by a percentage of the result, tada your temp drop.

120x3, add a 120x1, you have 25% more cooling, if your DT is 10C, your DT is now 7.5C, thus your chip will be about 2.5C cooler.

Simple. Basic math.
