I have always wandered:
How do other people setup thier desktop Icons.
Do you place in folders?
Catagorize them?
Set into neat groups?
Thrown all over the place?
However Windows sets the up?

I know I have a few such as the programs I use the most (ie. Firefox,Milkshape,AIM) and then a folder for overclocking with all the tools and read outs I use, a folder with benchmarks, and last but not least, a folder for games. Yea, i need everything to be near and organized. That, or I hide the Icons.

What do you do? What are your prefrences? SS's are welcome

I have 5 windows related icons in top right in 2 rows (my comp - my network - EMPTY - recycle.....then on 2nd row: My Docs - My Music)

then halfway down on right i have a 5 down/2 across clump of all installed games icons

then one space up from the start button i have a shortcut to my download folder.

I have no more than three icons on my desktop at all times:

My Computer
My Network Places
Recycle Bin

Any more and it looks cluttered.

Right now I am using talisman with a type of Mac OSx thing. Useally though I have the basics like my computer and recycle bin. Then I have one called Downloads which has more folders in. Things like music then I catarogize the music folder by type then band, I then have one like the for photos and for programs. I am always downloading things though an messing with photos so useally I clean my desktop about one a week or so and then like a day later have icons covering half my screen.

I only keep the recycle bin on my desktop. The rest are on a toolbar next to the tray.

SS here

Arrange Icons->Hide All Desktop Icons

Then I have a little toolbar that is a pop up to my desktop.

no icons here either.

i use mouse gestures (i've said it before, but this is the coolest thing i've found for my computer... ever) for common programs like firefox and itunes. everything else i just go through the start menu.

things i download may be on the desktop temporarily, but only until i decide whether i want to keep it (goes somewhere permantent) or delete it.

Alright, here is mine, was just actualy gonna create a thread asking what people thought of my new setup...then I saw this one.

First off, I'm not a mac lover, I think thier overpriced and all that jazz and you can't play msot games. That said I think macs styling of the actual peripherals, case, and software is the best, bar none. Anyway I stumpled across the theme in styleXP....and the colors are very soft and cool looking. So I kept it....then I thought, ya know that little crazy scroll thing macs have are usefull cuz I can put apps I rarely use on it and dock it at the top of my secondary monitor. Had to buy the program though for it to be used on my secondary monitor...it's free for single monitors (www.objectdock.com)...and I found I could make another bar with the plus version, and cleaned up my entire desktop of icons on the left! I created a directory called Objectdesktop Icons and put all my desktop shortcuts and stuff in there and use that to drag the icons onto the bar so they don't stay on my desktop.

Anyway, here is the final product....56kers, too late :p

Here's mine.

i use a program Called ASTON. its a desktop program that lets you personalize your dekstop. or you can just download desktops other people made, then change it to your personal preference.

Note: the only reason i have icons on my desktop is because i havn't put them in the Columns yet ( been to lazy :D ).

Also, on the bottom right where it tells me how much space is left on my drives, if i click on the pictures of the drives, they act as a direct link to that drive ( VERY HANDY! )

sorry, but it wouldn't let me post 2 pics in one post, or it would do links to them.

my desk top has no rhyme or reason

firefox saves to my desktop, icons install to desktop, I rarely see my desktop so it does not matter, I use Start Menu, and quick launch for anything I need, only time I need my desktop is when I have downloaded something onto it and I need to move it, but chances are I am moving it to another PC so I am grabbing it off my desk top inside Windoe Explorer Not actually from my desktop

Here's mine.... I use StyleXP for my icon set. I hide the toolbar because I don't like looking at it all that much.

My Desktop

It's pretty simple. I have a few shortcuts on the taskbar, and only have the regulars on the desktop. Use the startmenu for everything else.

Hey, Is that an image someone just randomly drew? Or is it an offical Naruto character? It looks like Sakura, But thats not her style of clothes, or weapons.
you know who it is???

Just wondering.

You are correct sir. It is Sakura. I'm not sure where the original image source came from, or if anybody edited anything while designing the background.
