which would u choose ? i kept hearing people say that zippy is the same as the pcpc for less money ? is this true ? i know the 1k pcpc one is like 72a on the 12v .. the zippy i saw was like 60

how well does the zippy compare though to the 1k pcpc sr .. i dont wanna have to buy another psu for a long time

Honestly, there is no need for a 1kW PSU. Maybe with 4 dual-cores and Quad-SLI, but for any desktop system today, 1kW is overkill. It would be far more cost effective to draw up an accurate power budget with a 10% allowance for the future. :)

well im in the process of upgrading ... so i will have sli'd 8800 gtxs .. either conroe eventually going quad or amd 4x4 .. and hds .. etc .

so i wanna be sure

I'd suggest you wait for a while longer in that case. At this point, I'd pick a Zippy or a Silverstone 850W Zeus unit. However, since the 8800GTX release is a big event, one can expect PSU makers to release newer models pretty soon. Just wait and see what comes up. :)

QFT what Mr. Super Nade said, I would go for the SST-ST85ZF. Just alot easier to find;) .

The Turbocool will be the loudest PSU you've ever owned. That said I don't think you could go wrong with it. The Zippy 850 is also an excellent unit from what I have seen.

im just worried with the rumors that the r600 is gonna use 8 pin pcie .. alot of these rumors are flying around xs forums

All the more reason to wait. If one goes by what ATI has done with the 1950 series, i.emore power draw on the 5V rail, it would be worth waiting for a unit which meets all these requirements before jumping for a unit with a big 12V rail and skimpy other rails.

8pin PCIe? So ATi is going to launch a product that requires a power plug which no PSU has  or use an 8-pin 12V CPU plug which maybe one or two PSUs have spare on top of one for the motherboard. I highly doubt that...at worst they will go dual PCIe 6-pin like NV did.

people on xs recommended the seasonic 850 or zippy 850 .. but i thought split 12v rails are bad .. and that is what the seasonic has

Silverstone is also coming up with the OP1000, a 1000 Watts unit much like the 850 but better connectors.

I didn't like the sound of the PCP&C 1KW. It's not so much loud as a wired howling sound.

yea i believe the OP1000 from silverstone is coming out on the 30th or something .. that is what im most likely upgrading to

That's because Turbocool use Tri-Blade Deltas. Server grade.

i think im gonna hold out and get the silverstone q1000 or wutever its called .. says it will be avaible on the 30th of this month .. so we shall see
