As with any new product there are going to be flaws, and the RatPad really does not possess any real problems. One of the first things that I noticed was right after I whipped it out (the RatPad), and placed it flatly upon my desk. After some close examination of the Pad, I noticed that it rocked up and down a bit. I quickly checked out Ratpadz and by George, there was a fix for my exact problem. You just bend it the edge of a desk or something and then problem solved.
Another problem I have run into is that the pad is actually to big for my desk, or is my desk too small. Anyway this thing is massive as the above image shows, its approximate measurements are 11.5″ x 9.5″. Another thing is that this thing has not allowed me to pick up anymore girls than normal, I will have to speak to Kyle over at Hard OCP about that. Because I can almost remember him specifically telling me that these things are babe-magnets. With most old rubber pads don’t really hold up well over time, they are stained, dirty, and punched full of pen-holes. They can’t be cleaned; with the RatPad all you have to do is wipe it down. But here is what I did with one of my old mouse pads.
Aside from the above problems I encountered, this thing has been a godsend. Like Jason from Fullon 3D I feel safer with my pad.
That’s Jason from Fullon3d on the left, I am on the right, and no one is getting my RatPad.
This thing, sure as hell doesn’t feel like it’s going to be wearing out anytime soon, but we will have to wait and see. If you have never used an Everglide or a RatPad yet you need to do so immediately, your mouse literally feels like it is floating across the surface. Also unlike older mouse pads that are made of rubber, the surface does not collect all the junk that gets caught up in your mouse. This cuts down on the amount of time cleaning out your mouse, and having to replace old pads as much.
And for only $18.95 it is larger in size than the Everglide and you don’t have to worry about accidentally getting a white one. The pad also has rubber grips on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on your desk. Word on the street is that it performs real well with the new Intellieye mice, but since I don’t have one I couldn’t tell you.
