Rumors have surfaced at Anandtech of a new CPU due to be released by Intel in the near future. Changes were spotted in the Material Declaration Data Sheets yesterday that point to a new product, which appears to be the i7-2700K.

Further details are unconfirmed as of yet, but it’s likely to involve a speed bump (to 3.5 GHz/3.9 GHz Turbo or 3.6 GHz/4.0 GHz Turbo) and a price drop to place the i7-2700K at the current 2600K price point. We’ll have to wait for further details, but it will be interesting to compare and contrast how well this second batch of Sandy Bridge i7 chips overclocks compared to the first.
It looks like Intel couldn’t let AMD’s upcoming Bulldozer architecture steal the spotlight any longer; we’d expect the release dates of the 2700K and Bulldozer to coincide

When we looked at the Piledriver CPU, we ran it with our standard CPU review HD 6970. However, our CPU review game and 3D benchmark suite is a bit long in the tooth. In an effort to keep our readers more well-informed, we went back to the drawing board to run our much more modern gaming suite (which we use in all GPU reviews) on a more modern, powerful GPU – the ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP.
Today from Alphacool we get the chance to look at a very new product to the market, the Eiswand. This is a standalone watercooling kit with everything you need to get started! This kit is even friendly to those with small factor cases, as the radiator/pump/reservoir are all external and contained in one housing. Enough banter, let’s dig in and take a look at this kit!
To mark the anniversary of the first CPU based on the X86 architecture, Intel has released a limited edition Core i7-8086k CPU. Although the new 8086K looks nothing at all like it’s namesake the Intel 8086 or iAPX 86 as it was also known it’s a milestone none the less marking 40 years of X86 based architecture. The 8086 CPU paved the way for modern computing and it’s easy to see why Intel would commemorate such an occasion with a special edition CPU.
It's more or less the same info (we do link to it), but there's little info out there about it so far. Just thought the readers here would like to know about it :)
I'm definitely in the Intel camp since Core2Duo came out...but isn't this a pretty obvious money grab? Unless these are fabbed better than the previous 2600k's the end result should be exactly the same for people who buy these with the intent of overclocking, right?

Yes and no, I don't think anyone who currently has a 2500k or especially a 2600k would be upgrading to a 2700k, as they will (almost guaranteed) have the same level of randomness when it comes to a maximum attainable multiplier. I look at it the same way that they released the 920->930 for the i7 1366 chips, discontinuing the 920 for the 930 at the same price that the 920 was at.
Hope it have a higher multi wall otherwise the 2700k is just the same as the 2600k other than a higher stock clock...at a higher price of course, clever marketing.
