Lian Li Releasing New Mid- and Full- Tower Cases

I get a good bit of email from Lian Li that our readers don’t see. Suffice to say they do a lot with mini-ITX / mini-ATX cases. These aren’t necessarily items that would appeal to our performance-minded audience. However, every now and then one comes through that I just have to share with our readers.

First up, there is the new mid-tower – the PC-V1020. At 220 x 562 x 505 mm (W.H.D.), it’s pretty tall for a mid-tower, but that probably has to do with what it’s standing on – wheels. Here are the specs:

PC-V1020 Mid-Tower Chassis

  • Support ATX/Micro-ATX motherboards
  • Motherboard tray sliding out on back
  • 5.25″ standard optical drive x3
  • 5.25″ to 3.5″ converter optical drive x1
  • 3.5″ HDD x7 and 2.5″ HDD x1
  • 8 PCI slots for VGA cards up to 305mm length
  • Two 140mm blue/red LED fans at front
  • One 140mm fan at top
  • One 120mm fan at rear
  • USB3.0 x 4 / e-SATA x 1 / HD Audio I/O ports
  • Availability: Arriving at local distributors end of September

MSRP for PC-V1020: $289 for PC-V1020A/B (silver/black); $349 for PC-V1020R (red)

Mmmm…love that aluminum. The wheels are a nice touch for my needs; not for their rolling ability, but for the better looking way it elevates the case. I have two cases on pieces of wood to elevate them off our carpet so the PSUs don’t suffocate. I love the look of a bottom-mounted PSU, but it does necessitate some elevation with carpet floors. Wheels would make that look quite a bit cleaner in our office!

The removable motherboard tray is nice too, as is the included cable management bracket. Check out the product page on their web site for more photos & details.

Now we come to the new full-tower, the PC-V2120. This thing is massive. It looks like you could fit a house inside. Here are its specs:

PC-V2120 Full-Tower Chassis

  • Support ATX/Micro-ATX/HPTX motherboards
  • Motherboard tray sliding out on back
  • 5.25″ standard optical drive x5
  • 3.5″ HDD x10 and 5.25″ HDD x3
  • 11 PCI slots for VGA cards up to 335mm length
  • Three 140mm fans + one 120mm fan at front
  • Three 120mm fan holes at top
  • One 120mm fan at rear
  • USB3.0 x 4 / e-SATA x 1 / HD Audio I/O ports
  • Availability: Arriving at local distributors end of September

MSRP for PC-V2120: $459 for PC-V2120A/B; $539 for PC-V2120X (all black)

The PSU spot looks cute down there, doesn’t it? Looks like you could house a dual-socket server, complete with a massive RAID array in this thing with all of those HDD spaces. This case is designed with large motherboards in mind (think EVGA SR-2) and people with massive computers in general. Looking at the product page, it seems the top holes are spaced such that you could put a 3 x 120 mm radiator up there with no problems. If you need a lot of room, this case looks like quite a solid option.

We are hoping to get one of the PC-V1020s in for review when they become available. In the mean time though, fear not, there is already a Lian Li case review in the works. We reviewed their PC-Q06 benching station a little while back and had previously mentioned another case that has come to market, the PC-X900. I’m pleased to say there is one of those on my bench right now and the review should be out the first week in October. See you then!

Those look very nice, I have (what I believe to be) the precursor to this, the v2000, and it is fantastic. I love the thickness of aluminum that lian li uses, it makes it very easy to get a clean cut with a jigsaw when doing case mods.

...that being said, I think my next case will be a mountain mods case.
