Where the hell are all the reviews of AMD’s new 65 nM chips announced today?
Why aren’t the FANBOYZ in a frenzy?
Why is no one mentioning that there are no reviews?
Yesterday, I got a followup:

The man has a bit of a point.

AMD apparently sent no review copies out or around. You know, when those “promoting” a movie don’t let reviewers see it . . . .
One might want to say that places will review anything so long as it’s free, but there’s a few places that would bite the bullet to get one, if they could find one, that is.
There’s nobody selling these things. That doesn’t necessarily mean too much, but there’s nobody pre-selling the things, either, and you know there’s enough vendors not the least bit shy about doing that given half-a-chance.
Something else has been missing, too: engineering samples. To my knowledge, there’s been none, zero, zilch.
You may say, “They’re all going to OEMs.” Well, neither Mr. Dell nor Mr. HP seems to have them yet, either.
Gee, where are they?
What is more disturbing, though, is something else that’s gone MIA. There’s no complaints, not even comments about all this? How come? It’s not a news item? It’s unimportant compared to an LED light? Nobody even asks AMD about this?
I’m afraid a lot of people are seeing puppet strings.
How Would You Even Know You Found One?
Not like it’s going to be the easiest thing in the world to identify one once there is one or two to be found. Some of these 65nm chips have the same model number as 90nm models, and all of them have the same 65W power rating as the low-power 90nm.
Well, that we can take care of, straight from the horse’s mouth!
All the initial 65nm chips have a G1 stepping, and all have a “DD” somewhere in their OPN. No, it’s not true that the “DD” stands for “Deaf and Dumb,” but it might stand for those oh-so-mellow folks who rewrite or just reprint the press releases without question.
