SiSoft Sandra 2003 has just come out. Here’s the download page.
The CPU Benchmark test yields much different scores than the “old” Sandra.
PIV Northwood scores get a little over 40% boost in ALU, a little less than 10% FPU:
Old Sandra:
New Sandra:
Pre-TBredBs get about a 35% boost in ALU, about 10% even in FPU:
Old Sandra:
New Sandra:
It doesn’t look like they changed the scores for some older processors. . . .
Old Sandra:
New Sandra:
. . . but not all of them.
Old Sandra:
New Sandra:
Multimedia CPU score are up a couple percentage points for PIV, a couple more than that for Athlons.
The memory benchmarks appears to be unchanged.
What To Think
I don’t see any pattern of bias in this particular change. Some items benefit Intel, some benefit AMD.
They ought to update all their reference CPUs, though. 🙂
